Every registered domain has a minimum of two Name Server records which show where it is hosted i.e. by using these records you direct your domain to the servers of a specific web hosting provider. That way, you have both your website and your e-mails managed by the very same service provider. On the lower level of the Domain Name System (DNS), on the other hand, there is a variety of other records, like A and MX. The former reveals which server handles the website for a given domain address and is always an IP address (123.123.123.123), while the latter indicates which server deals with the emails and is always an alphanumeric string (mx1.domain.com). For instance, any time you type a domain name in your browser, your request is sent through the global DNS system to the provider whose NS records the domain name uses and from there you will be sent to the servers of a different service provider if you have set an IP address of the latter as an A record for your Internet domain. Having independent records for the site and the e-mails means you may have your site and your emails with 2 different companies if you'd like.

Custom MX and A Records in Cloud Hosting

The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, that comes with each and every Linux cloud hosting we provide, allows you to see, modify and set up A and MX records for any domain name or subdomain within your account. Through the DNS Records section, you'll be able to see a list of all hosts in the account in alphabetical order with their related records, so any update is not going to take you more than a couple of mouse clicks. Creating new records is equally easy if, for instance, you would like to use the email services of a different provider and they ask you to set up more MX records than the default two. You may also set the priority for each MX record by setting different latency. In other words, when your e-mails are delivered, the sending server will contact the record with the smallest latency first and if the connection times out, it is going to contact the next one. Through our state-of-the-art tool, you'll be able to control the records of your domain addresses and subdomains easily even though you may have no previous experience with such matters.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Hosting

Accessing and editing the A or MX records for any of your domain names or subdomains is very easy if you purchase a semi-dedicated server plan from us. The accounts are maintained by using our in-house built Hepsia Control Panel, which includes a section committed to the DNS records of your domains. The latter will be listed alphabetically and you can click on any of them to see both the A and the MX records. Changing any record is as simple as typing in the new one in a text box and saving the change, so in case you have never dealt with such matters before, you won't encounter any issues if you want to move your website or emails to an alternative company while keeping the second service with our company. If needed, you could also set up additional MX records and set a certain priority based on the recommendations of the new provider.
